These Officers Were Shot This Week. Where’s The Media Outrage?

Whenever there’s a police-involved shooting, it usually makes big headlines.  When the bodycam footage is released and edited by local TV stations to show an out-of-context clip making the cop look guilty, it EXPLODES.

Even if it turns out the cop was justified in the shooting.

So why is it that daily shootings of police officers don’t seem to end up in the mainstream news?

Here’s are just a couple of them that you missed this week while the media was screaming “Trump is banning avocados from America” (spoiler alert: that was fake news).


Officer Tries To Save Life In Colorado, Is Shot In Face

On Tuesday morning, a San Juan County, Colorado undersheriff was shot after a high-speed pursuit.

And it happened when the Trooper was trying to SAVE the person he had been chasing.

Here’s what happened. Undersheriff Steve Lowrance was one of the officers who responded to a high-speed chase on Highway 550 that started in La Plata County.

Eventually they were able to get the car to stop at approximately mile marker 67.

There were three people in the vehicle – one of whom was 30-year-old Amanda Christine Maes, the driver.

Lowrance realized upon approaching the vehicle that she was about to shoot herself.  When he tried to stop her, she pulled the trigger.  A bullet passed through the cheek of Lowrance, according to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office.  The woman died by her own hand.

Miraculously, he survived.

Lowrance was rushed to Mercy Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

The male passenger in the vehicle was questioned and released.  The 31-year-old female passenger was arrested on warrants for unrelated charges.


Officer Shot In Abbeville, Louisiana

Louisiana State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who they say shot an officer in Abbeville on Wednesday night.

They say it happened in the 600 block of N. Gertrude Street just before 8 p.m. after the female officer conducted a traffic stop.

Louisiana State Police Detectives say the suspect is 29-year-old Nahshon Ishmael Brooks, 29.

They say just after she pulled him over, Brooks shot the officer twice.  She was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Anyone with information on Brooks’ whereabouts is asked to call Louisiana State Police at 337-262-5880.


Arizona Boy Charged With Trying To Kill Trooper

Thank God nobody was wounded in this shooting… but it’s an unbelievable story out of Phoenix, Arizona.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a 14-year-old boy was driving a car without headlights shortly after midnight Wednesday morning.

An Arizona state trooper tried to pull the driver over.  They say the boy stopped the car and started firing shots at the trooper.

The trooper returned fire with his rifle and the boy took off.  Nobody was hurt in the shooting, which happened in the area of 43rd and Maryland avenues.

Police say a Phoenix Police Department helicopter was able to track the boy to an alley, where he was arrested.

He’s now charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault and misconduct with a weapon.


Two Officers Shot In Georgia

Thursday afternoon, two police officers suffered serious gunshot wounds in Henry County, Georgia. This after they responded to an incident inside a neighborhood where the gunman barricaded himself inside a home, possibly holding a teen hostage.

It happened in the Eagle Ridge subdivision in Stockbridge just before 11 a.m. Thursday morning. Police said they received reports of a domestic disturbance, and that when they entered the house, the man opened fire.

“They were both struck. I do not believe they returned fire. I believe they were able to get in the residence and then safely evacuate. One of the officers did probably assist the other officer in getting out of the home,” said Henry County Police Captain Joey Smith.

One officer was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital.  He’s in serious condition after being shot in the leg and chest.

The second hospital was also rushed by ambulance to the hospital.  He’s listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the hand.

The names of the officers weren’t immediately available, but police did describe both as being “veterans” of the police department, having been on the force for at least 7 years and both in their 30s.

A man who said he’s the father-in-law of one of the injured officers spoke to local Fox 5 news, describing one of the wounded officers as a 32-year-old Army veteran.  He called it a “tragic situation”.

“Army veteran, two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, he’s been on the force for a while. It’s just a terrible tragedy,” said Rick Corss


How Easy It Is To Ignore And Forget

A “poor, innocent victim” with a lengthy criminal record is justifiably shot by police, and we see marches and looting in the streets and national media coverage.

Officers are shot and spend the rest of their lives trying to recover?  Nothing.

Let us not forget.
