July 24, 2023

For Immediate Release: July 24, 2023

Sacramento, CA- The Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (SCDSA) Board of Directors has voted to endorse Steve Hansen in his campaign for Mayor of Sacramento. Mr. Hansen previously served on the Sacramento City Council in 2012, where he represented the residents in the River Oaks, Central City, Land Park, South Land Park, and Little Pocket neighborhoods.

According to Mr. Hansen, “Our campaign is about building a future for Sacramento where every resident feels welcomed, protected, and empowered. I am deeply grateful and honored to receive the endorsement of the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association in my campaign for Mayor of Sacramento, because we share a goal in improving public safety through thoughtful leadership, compassion, and collaboration with the community at large. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community and be assured that when they call for help, their call will be answered. I wholeheartedly look forward to collaborating closely with our deputy sheriffs and other public safety agencies to develop innovative solutions that will create a safer and more prosperous Sacramento for all.”

“We are endorsing Mr. Hansen for Mayor of Sacramento because Steve has experience and a proven pro public safety track record. We know Steve Hansen will lead the city by investing in 911 first responders and law enforcement to reduce crime and improve neighborhood security. Steve will make addressing homelessness and creating safer communities his top priorities. For these reasons and many more, Sacramento’s deputy sheriffs are pleased to join Sacramento police in endorsing Steve Hansen for Mayor —because he is the best choice for public safety.” -Sergeant Nathan Seger, S.C.D.S.A. President.
